When Jesus found his disciples asleep when he went to pray before His crucifixion, he said “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” he encouraged them to “Watch and pray so that they would not fall into temptation.” Jesus noted that “The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:40-43.

Because we were created as spirits with souls living in bodies, we must view Jesus’ statement in the spiritual and natural application.

Let’s examine our physical obligation to sustain the willingness of the spirit. Often, we have a desire to do the things of the Lord but experience physical challenges that may limit our efforts. We should strive to maintain good health and take care of our physical bodies. “For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church” Ephesians 5:29.

As we walk by faith, we should maintain good habits that support good physical health. The key to maintaining good physical health is the right balance of regular exercise, good diet, stress management, work-personal life balance, healthy relationships and positive speech.

In this blog our goal is to provide tips to maintaining good spiritual and physical health.

"Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NLT)

We will share information in this segment of the blog on nutrition, exercise, fasting and other healthy habits that promote good physical and mental health that would help to sustain the Spirit of God within us.
