Benefits of Fasting

The fast should "break the chains of injustice, get rid of exploitation in the workplace, free the oppressed, cancel debts……lights will turn on, and your lives will turn around at once. Your righteousness will pave your way. The God of glory will secure your passage. Then when you pray, God will answer. You'll call out for help and I'll say, 'Here I am." (Isaiah 58).

The Godly intent of fasting is to set us free and to pave the way to the manifestation of answered prayer.

Fasting is also very effective during spiritual deliverance; Jesus himself told the disciples when they inquired as to why some spirits were difficult to cast out that "some go only by prayer and fasting." Matthew 17:21.

Fellowship with God without any distractions; it is a personal sacrifice unto God. It is time when you are encouraged to "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones."

Believers who practice regular spiritual fasting receive revelation from God and grow spiritually in their Christian walk. It cannot be denied that there is also a marked improvement in the physical and emotional health of those who practice fasting.

Clinical studies have shown that regular spiritual fasting may result in the brain improved ability to cope with stress, reduce inflammation, slows ageing, improve cell repair to DNA, lower coronary artery problems, and improve neuronic synapse health. Multiple studies have shown that spiritual fasting is a good way to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer as well as a potential treatment for diabetes.

The word 'fast' in Hebrew means to 'close/cover the mouth' so scriptural a fast involves not partaking in food or certain types of food for a while. As you adhere to the principle of fasting we encourage you to seek medical guidance if you are currently taking medication, pregnant, breastfeeding or under the supervision of a doctor.
